I’m so excited to announce that in nine days the launch of the fourth annual writeoncon will begin. It’s free and all you need is a computer to log in and join. Here are the details:

WriteOnCon 2013 begins in just 9 days! Mark your calendars for Tuesday, August 13 and Wednesday, August 14!

** The Fourth Annual WriteOnCon

** coming to a computer near you!
When: Tuesday, August 13 and Wednesday, August 14, 2012
Cost: FREE!!

2013 theme: “Exclusively for Everyone!” That means YOU.

** Pre-Conference Information!

With less than TWO WEEKS remaining until the fourth annual WriteOnCon, we thought we’d make sure you’re all prepped and ready to participate in the awesome events coming on August 13 and 14.

Everything takes place here: ( (Some pages still being built.)

Types of “events”:
1. Blog posts. Topics range from writing a query letter to romance in YA to what an editor looks for in a submission. There is definitely something for every author, no matter what stage they’re in! Blog posts are static, and can be viewed in our archives anytime.

2. Vlogs. Filmed by professional authors and illustrators, our vlogs offer a fun format to engage with some of your favorite people. Topics range from surviving the debut year to pacing and voice in YA. Vlogs are posted in the same place as blogs, and will be in our archives. You can also watch the vlogs on the WriteOnCon YouTube channel ( .

3. Live chats. These are done with industry professionals (authors, editors, and literary agents) through the software CoverItLive. A complete explanation about how you can participate in these exciting chats–including a schedule–is here ( .

This year, we’re adding GOOGLE HANGOUTS to the schedule. You read that right! You’ll get to see literary agents up close and personal and PITCH TO THEM LIVE during five separate events over the two days of the conference. Word to the wise: Get your twitter pitches ready!

4. Live forum events. These events are a new feature this year, and we’re excited to get more people participating in as many ways as possible. Our forums ( are always open for chit chat, query/first five critiques, book talk, and more. The live forum events will be staffed with literary agents, and vary in topic from Q&A’s to queries.

5. Query Ninja Agent Program. We’ve secured several of the top industry professionals to come into our forums and critique your queries (or anything else they want! Get your materials ready)! You won’t know when, and you won’t know where… but they might just Ninjafy you!

** New Adult questions, Middle Grade questions, and Query Letter Submissions:

So WriteOnCon 2013 is less than two weeks away — nine days, actually! — and we’re gearing up!

First off, the FORUMS ARE NOW OPEN ( . We have organized them so you can post your query letters, first 250 words, and/or the first five pages of your novel. We encourage you to take advantage of these days before the conference actually begins, so you can present the best query for our Ninja Agents come August 13!

Second, we’re planning several live events — the schedule is coming together nicely, and we anticipate being able to announce it very soon — and we need some submissions from you, our participants!

Editor Nichole Steinhaus is conducting a New Adult Q&A forum event, and we want any and all questions you have about the New Adult category and industry. SUBMIT THEM HERE ( .

Middle grade author Peggy Eddleman is leading a forum event on writing middle grade. This is typically one of our under-represented genres, and Peggy’s willing to let you in on all the secrets to crafting killer middle grade fiction. SUBMIT YOUR QUESTIONS FOR PEGGY HERE ( .

Lastly, query letter expert Jean Oram needs query letters for her forum event. She’ll be dissecting 7 queries and posting her very thorough feedback in the forum. If you’re interested in submitting your query for Jean’s critical eye, DO IT HERE ( .

As if all that weren’t enough, The Reading Room is sponsoring another contest this year! There are three winners, a panel of agents, and the opportunity of a lifetime!

Read all about the contest HERE ( .

Submit your first 500-word entries at The Reading Room HERE ( .
